Best Yoga Poses For Asthma

Some other Yoga Asanas help in combating Asthma. Some yoga poses for asthma need utmost care to practice them. Unlike other workouts for asthma such as kung fu, these are done slowly. Mind you, controlled breathing under stress is the mantra here. You must exhale while bending and inhale while straightening unless your purpose is weight reduction.
Pada Hasthasana
Pada means feet and palms are hastha. From a standing with hands fully lifted posture, bend forward fully to touch your feet and forehead, the knees. This is one of the finest workouts for lungs and heart.
Paschimothanasana
Very similar to padahasthasana but differs in a way that you start from sitting erect with both legs stretched forward. Bend forward to touch feet with hands and knees with forehead.
Matsyendrasana
Start like paschimothanasana with stretched legs while sitting erect. Rest right foot on left knee, lock it by your left armpit and support yourself by resting right palm on the floor on the right side. Twist torso as much as is possible to right and breathe 4-5 times. Go back to original position and do it for the next part of your body.

Kneel down and stretch legs backwards alternately. Simultaneously lift the stretched out leg and both hands till you can hold your foot. Stay there for a couple of breaths.
Ujjayi
Sitting in padmasana, inhale till lungs are full. Hold breath as long as possible. Exhale from left nostril by closing the right one with right thumb. In the next cycle, exhale from the right nostril, closing the left nostril this time with right index finger.
Suryabheda
In this differed breathing technique, you will start from sitting in sukhasana (some exponents prefer oadmasana). Inhale through one nostril and exhale through the other alternatively, using the right thumb and index finger to close the alternate nostrils. Hold breath in between inhaling and exhaling as long as comfortable.

Yoga and asthma are not new terms to health freaks. You can set a systematic regimen in consultation with an instructor for these yoga poses for asthma. Commencing much before winter is better for good results. Practicing yoga for health should be preferably in the early morning in open air unless it is extremely cold or raining.
