Best Yoga Therapy For Children

There are various yoga therapies for children such as follows
Autism and Yoga
Autism is a developmental disorder that typically appears in the first three years of life. This disorder makes it difficult for children to communicate verbally and non-verbally, to socially interact with others and to relate to the outside world.

Yoga therapy for children can help autistic children mainly with creating a bond between the teacher and the pupil. As student and teacher gradually develop a foundation of mutual trust and friendship, the yoga teacher can introduce some of the yoga poses and breathing exercises that will help to bring the autistic child out of his or her shell. This helps to promote social interaction. A combination of poses, breathing and deep relaxation will strengthen the child's nervous system, increase overall health and aid the development of body awareness and concentration. The eventual result is an overall improvement in their quality of life.

ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a behavioural disorder is defined by a deficiency in attention, impulse control and rule-governed behaviour. It manifests in early childhood. A child suffering form this may display: hyperactivity; speaking or acting before thinking; difficulty in following instructions; poor organizational skills; restlessness; impatience; forgetfulness; low self-esteem; and poor social skills.Children with ADHD find it difficult to slow down, even when they want to; often they are so hurried that they seem clumsy and uncoordinated. Children with ADHD often also experience delayed learning due to inability to concentrate.

Breathing can be deeply connected to emotions and yogic breathing is one of the best ways to start working with children with ADHD. Yoga teachers will help to treat a child by introducing breathing exercises and a few poses before attempting to teach them an entire yoga routine. This will help them to calm down enough to follow instructions. Alternate nostril breathing will be of a particular benefit to children with ADHD because it can help to calm the mind. Teaching these children proper respiration is an important aspect of their yoga training. With a regular yoga practice, children with attention deficit disorder can develop a greater body awareness, emotional balance and concentration - increasing their capacity for schoolwork and creative play. This can also, in turn, aid their self-esteem.
Mental and Emotional Health
Asides from physical benefits of yoga for children, children can also experience improvements in mental and emotional health. It has been shown that yoga can have a massive calming effect on children who practise it, calming negative excitable behaviour. Yoga can also help children to develop a stronger memory, will power, higher levels of concentration and improved respiration.

Can Yoga Have Any Adverse Effects For Children?

It is not proven that yoga poses for kids can have an adverse effect on children if it is studied in the proper manner with an experienced teacher. It is suggested that children study in a small class where the teacher can pay more attention to individual students.Some yoga professionals believe that due to children's' nervous and glandular systems being not yet fully developed, children should not practise intense yoga exercises. They may interfere with the natural growth. However, meditations and simple poses and breathing exercises in which the breath is not held, may be practised without concern.

What Do Kids Say About Yoga?

Yoga for kids is more and more in fashion and even schools may offer yoga for children. Children say that they feel more relaxed and have less trouble focusing on school work. As children practising yoga feel more relaxed themselves, they will respond differently to other children, which help them to get along better.
